MANILA, Philippines - Well-known sculptor Jerusalino "Jerry" Araos has died.
Araos, an outspoken former communist rebel, made toys sculptures (huge wooden seesaws/slides/chairs/tables) and torsos.
He died of a heart attack at 9 p.m. of December 23, 2012 in the intensive care unit of the Capitol Medical Center.
The colorful Araos was lucid to the end. He refused to have a wake.

Araos also seemed to have waited for Liwa, his third child, who arrived at 3 p.m. Sunday with her fiance.
Even after a stroke and a fall from a roof, he recently had a joint exhibit with Ral Arogante titled "Tutubi, Tutubi, Huwag Kang Pahuhuli sa Batang Mapanghi" in The Crucible Gallery, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
"Ter Jerry Araos died this evening :-( I have no words to express such enormous grief..." said Araos's friend, Marla Garin-Alvarez in her Facebook status posted late December 23. "Ter" is how his students called him because he refused to be called "Sir." "Ter" is short for "Master."
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Melen Araos, his children and grandchildren.
